Acronyms

Some people find it helpful to use mnemonic devices to help them learn and remember the names of the notes on the staff.

If you look at the four spaces on the treble staff, they spell the word FACE.  The line names (EGBDF) don't spell anything, but traditionally people have used acronyms, such as "Every Good Boy Does Fine", to help them remember.

On the bass staff, the space names are ACEG and the line names are GBDFA.
