The Earth Has Been Destroyed

I honestly didn't think I'd live to see it.  It was several months ago that a friend of mine made me aware of the International Earth-Destruction Advisory Board (IEDAB).  I thought it was a valuable service, and placed a link to the Current Earth-Destruction Status on my website.  Each day, when I visited my site, the Current Earth-Destruction Status was a reassuring  GREEN: "NOT DESTROYED".  I liked having the link on my site.  It gives one a certain sense of comfort and peace of mind.  "Oh, good.  The earth is not destroyed."  Imagine my surprise when I visited my site this morning, and discovered that the Current Earth-Destruction Status is now  RED: "DESTROYED"!

Apparently this has something to do with the activation of the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland.  My first clue was actually today's XKCD strip.  There was a reference to the "LHC" being turned on, which meant, according to the gentleman in the strip, that "this could be our last night on earth".  Not knowing what the LHC was (to my embarrassment), I dismissed the whole thing as a typical quirky XKCD comic.  That is, until I saw the IEDAB earth status alert.

I must admit, after the initial shock, the news was a little discouraging.  I guess it is just the end of the world, but still, I honestly hadn't expected it.  If you're interested, the IEDAB website has some useful tips about finding a Geocide Refuge.  I guess we'll be making plans.

Good luck to you.

If CERN scientists have destroyed the earth pre-emptively, then where are they going to conduct their experiments? Also, do you think they'll be able to re-create the earth if they manage to generate the Higgs Boson?

Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him — for this is his lot.  Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work — this is a gift of God.  He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.
